The Sarins

Just before Christmas, I photographed two cutesy little girls by the names of Madeleine and Kate (whoop!). Now, talk about a small world! Their Mum, Clare, is the cousin of a teacher/friend from my kids school, which is how the shoot came about.

So the day arrived and as I opened the door I suddenly thought - "ooh I recognise you!" but didn't say anything until the shoot was over and we'd conversed a bit more. Then, I don't really know why I blurted it out, but it just suddenly came to me that she seemed familiar as I was sure she knew some very good friends of mine and unbelievably, she used to go to school with them! My mind was at ease now and not tick tick ticking trying to place her!

Anyway, the girls were very excited to have their photos taken and were such super smiley models! I hope that comes through in the following few photos...

A Frosty Morning

Yesterday, as most of you probably felt too, was so incredibly cold and frosty. After dropping off the kids at school and doing the mundane job of the Tesco shop, the light looked fabulous so off I headed home to grab "The Beast" and to head out for a sacred hour, taking some pics.

I stayed local knowing I couldn't be out too long as an arms length amount of jobs were waiting for me at home, but where I travelled too did the job. Im fortunate to live in the beautiful Northumberland countryside, overlooking deep valleys and woodland galore.
This is where I took my favourite picture of the day. Heading along the road to Healey,
a mass of woodland to my left, the sun suddenly popped out between the trees creating something so beautiful.

I managed to capture the rays penetrating the gaps in the trees and found it looked more dramatic in black and white - see what you think.

A Happy New Year to you!

So the 2012 blogging begins and with it, something new once you've booked us for your photos!

I did it myself as a surprise for the other half's 40th birthday. Well what do you get the man who has everything?? I'd recently done the school photos at my kids' school and loved one of the pics I took of my two, spoke to my Dad via Skype and who lives in Chiang Mai, Thailand, what do I get him and mentioned how I love this photo.
That's when he mentioned the absolutely fabulous artists living and working in Chiang Mai. 'The pencil pictures they sketch are to die for' he said! 'They will draw anything and the portrait sketches I've seen are amazing'. So with this in mind (& nothing else I may add!!) I emailed him the photo straight away and said 'ok, get me one of those!' A little over a week later, my parcel arrived, and inside, was an absolutely stunning pencil drawing of my kids. Now I showed this to a fair few people who all gawped in amazement and who all thought it was a computer print off, until (& yes naughty I know) I rubbed part of the picture to show them the pencil mark, which then astonished them for a second time. And thankfully 'the man who has everything' was also blown away with his very special present - phew!

This is where the 'something new' begins. What if my clients loved their photos so much that they too would like a pencil drawing of one of their favourites?
That's where my Dad and I can help you out.

But to help you make your minds up or to even whet your appetites, I've posted the original photo and then a scan (which does NOT do the picture justice) of the pencil drawing below.
Should you now or in future desire one of these, please contact me for more information and I'll happily help you out with your query.

as I'd love to hear your feedback.

So, drum roll please................................
